Mountain Climbing

Oman offers a variety of climbing for beginners and the more experienced. The popular climbing areas have many sport routes (bolted) but good rock can be found for those wanting to keep there in hand in placing their own protection. Good topos is available for single and multi pitch climbs.

With experts guides top ropes can be set up for those who want to learn the basics, not yet confident to lead. You can hire equipment with or without guide by the hour, half a day, full day or several days. Learn the basics on our indoor wall then try it out outdoors.

The closest climbing area to Muscat is 5 o’clock slab which is about 5 minutes drive down the Al Amerat road (Wadi Adai)Here there are a few sport routes but it is predominantly trad. The rock type being limestone is of good quality and has so far been left for those who enjoy placing gear. It is possible to drive to the base of the crag in 4×4 which means you don’t have far to carry ropes and rack.

Further a field at an hour away is Wadi Dayqah. With sport routes on both sides of the canyon it is easy to find somewhere to climb in shade. From 5a to 7b grades and great rock provides fantastic climbing for all levels of ability. Again it is possible to drive to the base of the crag and is great for group activities

2 hours plus from Muscat are Hadash in the Ghubra bowl, Khubra canyon and the georgette in Wadi Bani Auf.
